I was able to catch up with the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team during the second day of Swiftwater 1 certifications. The morning portion of the day focused on getting team members into the water and working their way downstream on a board. This exercise allowed members to become familiar with the water and get comfortable working in it before deploying the inflatable boat for a two, three and four line system in the afternoon.

In the late morning and afternoon on this weekend adventure, members gathered at Steven’s Gulch and participated in several hands-on exercises to pair the instruction received with hands-on skills. As a part of this training, members utilized the line gun to achieve the ability for a 2, 3 and a 4 line system, respectively. Members of this dive team are extensively trained individuals, trained specifically to handle water callouts on a volunteer basis.
