On April 10th, 2025 at approximately 16:33 the Weld County Regional Communications Center dispatched Front Range Fire Rescue and UC Health EMS to a large vegetation fire in the area of Weld County Road 52 and 95th Avenue. Upon arrival Engine 502 advised that it was a haystack fire and access was through the residential entrance. Crews prioritized protection of the other hay bales, a commercial vehicle, and a commercial structure. Crews determined there to be fire within a grinder trailer on scene and extinguished that fire while splitting crews to begin extinguishment on the hay bales. Crews spent most of the time working with heavy equipment operators to break down the bales and extinguish flames as the bales were moved. Crews remained on scene for several hours.
